Andrew,

A good review, if long. It does convey that emotion well, as well as giving great context. One criticism I have is that you set the bar and tone well, but you tend to debase it a little with a couple of flippant comments (about the drunk dickheads and the shitty screens). They were fair points, I'm sure, but it seemed quite jarring. Your review of Cannot Buy My Soul brilliantly developed that theme, as it was the presiding feeling from the night, but in this type of review, comments such as those seem rather superfluous in my mind.

Cheers for the great writing, by the way. It's been cool to watch your progress.

I'm not sure if I'm qualified to give you a 'critical appraisal' but as a former FasterLouder gig reviewer (I think we even may have met at a Red Paintings gig back in the day?), I can completely relate to your comments about the 'fact over emotion' music review.

I appreciate the care you seem to have applied to the Porcupine Tree review, and while it may not appeal to every reader, it's got a depth that I was always too afraid to explore in my own reviews for FL, and conveys a sense of the evening quite powerfully in its own way.
