Great blog there Andrew. Very interesting. Unfortunately I missed ALL of big sound due to a massive work/uni schedule :( Some great acts were playing too.

Well spoken, my friend. I relate almost 100% to your version of events. Although much older than you, my shyness got in the way of making the most of the conference...THIS year. After missing a few opportunities (saying hi to Wally was but one...) I did get the courage to introduce myself to Van Dyke Parks, Mark Callaghan, Jeff Martin, and one or two people in the industry who aren't big names. I was happy to catch up with you and Hans as I was flying solo for much of the time and it was nice to see friendly faces (albeit, faces of two people I've only met within the last week!).

I did regret not meeting up with Ariel from Cyber PR, Alison Wenham, Catherine Haridy, Ellie from Fiction, and a couple others because they were on my wavelength and I would've loved a discussion or two. Hopefully, I get some more opportunities next year and nothing will stop me from putting myself out there a bit more proactively.

It was three days of letting go of preconceived ideas, especially about band managers and label execs; with a couple exceptions, they were largely a bunch of passionate music lovers, not leeches as I'd previously thought! I do wish that the music scene in Brisbane could be more all-embracing and genre free when it comes to people talking, interacting, helping each other out. Hopefully that will change. Great blog, Andrew.
